Thank you for your interest in volunteering to serve the Richard I. Bong WWII Heritage Center. Volunteers are an essential part of our organization. They represent the Bong Heritage Center to our visitors and keep things running smoothly.

Volunteering gives you the opportunity to learn more about WWII, to meet and befriend people with similar interests, and to serve this area's newest educational institution and the Midwest’s first WWII museum.

Volunteer Opportunities

  • Staff the information/membership desk; provide area information to visitors
  • Answer questions and direct visitors
  • Take tickets
Gift Shop Volunteer
  • Assist visitors in finding shop items
  • Assist with inventory and stocking the shelves
  • Operate cash register and assist in customer transactions
Education Program Volunteer
  • Volunteers trained to give guided tours through the Heritage Center to visiting school groups and adult groups
  • Give presentations about the Heritage Center and about WWII to schools, social and civic organizations, etc.
  • Give outreach programs involving object-based presentations
Collections Volunteers
  • Volunteers assist the Curator in several aspects of maintaining the collections including acquisition and cataloging
Research Library Volunteers
  • Staff library desk and assist patrons finding research materials
Office Volunteers
  • Help with mailings, telephone over-flow, general filing and other specific office projects
