Your Class Trip to the Center

The Veterans Historical Center cordially welcomes student groups and is a regular destination for several schools throughout our region. School groups receive a special discount rate and may wish to take advantage of the Center’s ‘Squad Training’ program.

Tour Types Available:

Self-guided tours. Groups are welcome to tour at their own pace but we do ask that school groups have an appropriate number of chaperones to maintain order.
    Students-$5.00
    Chaperones-1 free for every 15 students other wise $7.00
    Tour duration at Group’s discretion

Docent-guided tours. View our exhibits with the assistance of our trained docents who will walk your group through our galleries.
It may be convenient to divide larger tours into more manageable groups numbering up to 15 people.
    Students-$5.00
    Chaperones-1 free for every 15 students other wise $7.00
    Allow 1 to 1.5 hours for tour

Squad Training. Squad Training is our premium school group experience and consists of the following:
    Richard Bong biographical presentation
    Hands-on History from our Footlocker Collection
    Squad-based information scavenger hunt through the exhibits (you divide your
    group into several 4-6 person ‘squads’ who seek historical information in the
    galleries).
    Students-$6.00
    Chaperones-1 free for every 15 students other wise $7.00
    Allow 1.5 to 2 hours for tour

SCHOOL TOUR NOTES
    SCHEDULING Please schedule well in advance (at least two weeks), especially for docent-guided or squad training visits. We rely on our wonderful volunteers to help us with school tours and they need time to arrange their schedules.
    LUNCH Many school groups opt to use the adjacent city park for their lunch. In the event of inclement weather it may be possible to use the Center’s classroom space for much as well, however, it is imperative that you reserve this option as other events might be scheduled in the classroom if you have not reserved it for lunch. The Center DOES NOT provide meals or drinks for tour or rental groups. Meals and drinks are the sole responsibility of the group.
